There simply is no relationship between the number of years since high school and my sense of self; not that the years have not affected me because they have, but 37? No way. Had anyone asked me twenty years ago where I would be today, I could not have predicted the answer with any accuracy, but I love what I am doing and that, really, is all that matters.
I graduated from Oberlin College in 1988 and went directly to the University of Michigan Law School. I married Craig Kehrle, another MHS alum, in 1991 just before graduation, passed the IL, RI and NY Bars, and my first son Ben was born in 1994. Contrary to every priority I'd had up until that point, I felt a powerful need to give up being a lawyer and stay home, and I spent the next five years as a stay at home mom. Zachary was born in 1997, and shortly thereafter I went back to work part time writing for the A.L.R., a legal encyclopedia. Sova was born in 2001, and about a year later I decided to return to work full time but chose to avoid the intense demands of law. Instead, I now teach English in a small alternative private school that my kids also attend, which I absolutely love, and am the Staff Editor for the Westchester County Bar Association in White Plains where I write, edit, do layout and production for the monthly Newsletter and semi-annual Bar Journal, and I also create web pages and edit the website.
Craig is a Technology Education teacher in the Danbury, CT public schools and, in addition to the kids, we live with two dogs and a cat. We're in Larchmont quite often since both of our families are still there, but though we've taken the kids to Nicky's now and then, somehow I haven't had a Walter's hot dog since school.
I'd love to hear from anyone who is interested in reaching out! My e-mail address is above.
By the way, for anyone who is interested, that is my brother Jerry ('86) in the photo with Ben and Sova, and, in the photo of the two little boys, the boy to the right is Judy Levine Skolnick's son Alex.
