Hi!
After attending the University of Chicago, I did a brief stint as a professional dancer in NYC, then moved out to the Seattle area in 1993 and have been here ever since. I worked in social services (first in maternal/child health, then coordinated an AIDS organization) and decided to go to massage school. (However, the only one who really benefited from the massage was my dog!) I then decided to go to graduate school in psychology, and got a master's degree.
In the meantime, after a 7 year hiatus and the break-up of a major relationship, I started dancing again and almost immediately met my future husband, Spencer, in an Argentine Tango class. We got married in 2002 and now we own our own business (http://www.ResilientSpirit.com). I teach yoga and together we teach partner dance (eg swing, salsa, ballroom); we also provide DJ services for special events. In addition, after being on staff at the behavioral health service of a local HMO for 3 years, in 2003 I opened a part-time private psychotherapy practice where I see adolescents and adults.
Our daughter Benjamine ("Benni") Elena Howard was born on August 5, 2005 after 36+ hours of labor and transfer to the hospital (8 lbs, 21 inches at birth with a full head of black "hair with an attitude"). Everyone's doing well despite major sleep deprivation. We're looking forward to the Reunion!
