Betsy (Schmidt) Stoeber and family |
After months of having a couple of photos up on the reunion website (thanks to Claire Steichen's friendly reminder), I'm finally getting around to posting my news and buying my tickets for the event.
During college, I spent a year in Germany and met my husband, Lutz. After a great deal of back-and-forth across the Atlantic, we settled in NYC and got married in 1991. I earned my MBA in 1994 and joined Goldman Sachs in London as an investment banker. We stayed in the UK for 2 years and then returned to the US (to suburban NJ). Our son Karsten was born in 1999 and I returned to work until 2001, when a combination of my feeling like I was hardly raising my child,! my own father's death, the market downturn, 9/11, etc. led me to stop working full time and move to more entrepreneurial ventures. Our younger son, Johannes, was born in 2003. The boys, now 6 and almost 2, are all fun and activity. Karsten is starting first grade and Johannes is talking up a storm and stealing all of Karsten's toys. In terms of work, I currently have a business partner - another former Wall St. banker with 2 children - and we are pursuing a new venture with an established company and doing smaller banking deals from our respective home offices.
I missed both the 5- and 10-year reunions, as I was living in Europe, and so am looking forward to seeing many of you at the 20th. It's wonderful to read everyone's postings and to see how many from the MHS class of '85 have had adventures, achieved career success, started families and appear to be happy. My stepfather's 70th birthday celebration is taking place the same day as our reunion (in Fairfield, CT now, not Larchmont), but my family and I will try to participate in reunion activities around the party.
